The S.E. Farris Law Firm is representing a St. Louis man who claims he was falsely accused of shoplifting by retail store staff
St. Louis, MO (June 28, 2013) ‚Äď A St. Louis man is suing a local outlet of a national electronics retailer for false arrest and false imprisonment after events that occurred on December 24, 2012.
According to court documents filed in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County, the plaintiff was arrested on the retailer’s premises under the suspicion of shoplifting. The plaintiff alleges that the retailer acted without justification, instigated an improper arrest by providing false information to the police, and suffered bodily injury to his neck and arm as a direct result of the defendant’s negligence.
‚ÄúWithout any justification this man was arrested, imprisoned, and injured as a result of these accusations,‚ÄĚ said the plaintiff‚Äôs attorney, Spencer E. Farris. ‚ÄúThe pain and suffering, and embarrassment that my client endures are a direct result of willful and malicious behavior. Until suit was filed, Best Buy refused to provide the video that they claim showed the plaintiff‚Äôs involvement in the theft. ‚ÄĚ
Court documents state that the plaintiff is suing the retailer in excess of $25,000 for damages on the counts of false arrest, false imprisonment, and pain and suffering.
