B. Michael Korte is an accomplished attorney, author and lecturer with more than 35 years of experience in representing injured workers. Through his writing, lecturing, bar association leaderships, and decades of experience representing thousands of injured workers in their work comp cases, he has distinguished himself as an authoritative figure in the area of workman’s compensation law.
Michael is a fellow in the international College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers and is the 2009 recipient of the Distinguished Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Award, a lifetime achievement award presented by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He has been listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and received that organization’s highest possible performance and ethical ratings.
He is a frequent lecturer at seminars sponsored by the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation, bar associations, law schools, trade associations, and other organizations. Michael is the author of Missouri Workers’ Compensation Law and Practice– considered by his peers to be the most authoritative book on the workers’ comp law of Missouri– and is a past president of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and continues to be a proud supporter of Tiger athletics.
The first member of his family to attend college, Mike grew up working as a laborer for asphalt and concrete paving companies. Mike has never forgotten those roots, and over the entire course of his career, has been committed to serving his community, charities, and legal bar associations when he is not helping injured workers, and his other clients. He formerly served as president of Kids’ Chance, Inc. of Missouri, a charitable organization related to workers’ compensation.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Bridgeway Behavioral Health, Inc., a drug and alcohol rehabilitation provider, and as chair of the City of Kirkwood, Missouri’s Civilian Pension Review Board. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Kirkwood/Des Peres Chamber of Commerce, as the treasurer for a successful tax/bond campaign of the Kirkwood R-7 School District, on other church and school-related boards and organizations, and on the Kirkwood Rotary Club Board of Directors, where he continues to be a member. Mike has been married to his wife, Ann, since 1980, has reviewed science fiction for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and once pitched a no-hitter in slow-pitch softball. He admits to being a mediocre golfer.
