Poorly maintained premises can turn a fun summer outing into a nightmare
Summer is an ideal time for outings in St. Louis. Visits to the pool, neighborhood gatherings for backyard barbecues, community festivals and enjoying the weather on your favorite restaurant’s outdoor patio are all some of the joys of summer in the Gateway City.
Unfortunately, any of those pleasant outings may end in an upsetting and painful trip to the hospital if the premises is poorly or carelessly maintained. Slips, trips and falls can lead to broken bones, head and back injuries, paralysis and even death.
Although icy winter conditions are most often associated with slip-and-fall cases, lawyers also see clients who have been injured during the summer.
The warm weather means that more people venture out for recreation, shopping and dining and that more construction, roadwork and rehabbing are going on. With lawnwork and landscaping going on, cords, rakes and other tools may be left lying on the ground, posing tripping hazards.
Missouri law allows people who have been injured in slip-and-fall accidents to seek reimbursement for their medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and present and future disability.
