When you have been in a wreck, many things are on your mind- how to cover your medical bills, where the money to pay bills will come from, how to deal with your pain, and so on. The last thing you would expect is for your “good neighbor” insurance company – that’s right, your own insurance company- to raise your insurance rates. Yet many insurance companies in Missouri do just that. And it is against the law.

Missouri statutes forbid an insurance company from charging you more just because you have been in a wreck, if that wreck is not your fault. The Missouri Code of State Regulations , section 500-2.600 make it clear that charging you more for being the victim of a car crash is discriminatory insurance practice. And it is forbidden!
