se2The country’s largest Parkinson’s grass root organization, The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), hosted their 18th annual Golf Classic on May 16, at the Algonquin Golf Club in Glendale, Mo. This event was held in memory of Jack Buck, an American sportscaster known for announcing Major League Baseball games for the St. Louis Cardinals. Mr. Buck passed away at the age of 77 from a combination of illnesses, one of them being Parkinson’s disease.

The S.E. Farris Law Firm was honored to be a proud sponsor of the APDA Golf Classic to show their support to Ease the Burden – Find the Cure for Parkinson’s disease. This disease is a progressive movement disorder that can become debilitating to its victims. Nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with this disease, and the cause is still unknown. As a sponsor of the event, The S.E. Farris Law Firm is helping to raise awareness about the condition and fund research to improve the lives of those living with and impacted by this disease.

This cause is especially poignant to Mr. Farris, whose father-in-law suffered from Parkinson’s Disease.

The Golf Classic is one of three major fundraisers to help support APDA. This event helps the organization provide information, support groups, educational seminars, exercise classes, and more to victims and their families. John Mozeliak, the General Manger of the St. Louis Cardinals, served as an honorary chairman, and Tom Ackerman, the Sports Director at KMOX, served as the master of ceremonies. After the tournament, players and guests enjoyed cocktails, an elegant dinner, live auctions, awards, and questions and answers with Mr. Mozeliak and Mr. Ackerman.

The APDA’s mission is to help the people living with this chronic neurological disorder to live their lives to the fullest and provide funding for research to find a possible cure for Parkinson’s disease. For more information about the APDA, visit http://www.apdaparkinson.org/# .
